More about Doug and the Friction Quartet…

One night. Four cellos. One voice. Music in shadow. Art in light.

On Saturday, August 23rd, in three shows at 2pm, 5pm and 8pm, Austin Camerata (led by artistic director Daniel Kopp, MM ’18) and The Cathedral present Cello Noir. Set in an immersive gallery space surrounded by visual art, Cello Noir will feature a quartet of cellists and guest vocalist Naala, who will move fluidly between classical and pop. The performance will explore the darker, more intimate edges of each genre—acoustic warmth meets amplified edge, clarity blurs into haze, and familiar melodies take on new, unexpected forms. Framed by art, the music becomes both contrast and conversation.

Curated cocktails & beverages compliments of Austin Beerworks, Dulce Vida Tequila, Empress Gin & Topo Chico.
