On Tuesday, March 17, Diana Burgess (BM ’15), as member of the orchestral indie band Mother Falcon, performs at South by Southwest 2015. South by Southwest (SXSW) Music and Media Conference, the world’s leading music industry event, offers attendees the opportunity to explore the future of the music industry during the day at panels, talks, the Trade Show, Music Gear Expo and other conference activities at the Austin Convention Center. At night, the absolute best mix of musical performances from over 2,200 regional, national and international acts take place at the SXSW Music Festival. Tonight, during the opening concert of the 2015 TCU Cellofest, Professor Tsang, with students James Burch (DMA ’16), David Campbell (DMA ’15) and Ying Zhang (DMA ’15), gives the world premiere performance of a new arrangement of Ástor Piazzolla’s Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas (The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires) for four cellos. The arrangement was made by student Matthew Armbruster (MM ’16) and is based upon Leonid Desyatnikov’s version for solo violin and chamber orchestra.
